Books

Teresa O’Connor is the co-author of Grocery Gardening.  Here’s what the press says about this book:

“Think of Grocery Gardening as a substitute gardening grandma. An extra hip, fun-loving grandma who shows you how to start an organic garden, but never gets mad at you for not wiping your muddy shoes.” Kate Bryant, Portland (Oregon) Monthly

“Colorful, cheeky and easy to navigate (…) each garden-fresh ingredient is accompanied by four recipes, various recommendations and fun pointers…” Allysa Ford, Minnesota Star Tribune

Inside this book are planting, preparing and preserving information for more than 25 herbs, fruits and vegetables as well as delicious recipes that highlight the season’s freshest produce.

As a co-author, Teresa describes the social, economic and environmental benefits of local foods, including which fresh foods are best purchased organic.  She also cites recent research and provides nutritional benefits for each of the herbs, fruit and vegetables featured in this gardening/food book.

I have come across your book and am excited. I don’t have it yet. I hope to take it out of the library first. I went to a few lectures in our local garden group about winter harvest gardens. I wonder if you know of any facebook groups of chat groups where people can exchange ideas in your book as well as share experiences about year round gardens. I live in Colorado Springs zone 5 b and doing winter harvest garden for the first time. I harvested hakurei turnips, swiss chard, spinach and I’m hooked. NO BUGS! NO HEAT, awesome way to garden. I see you have a facebook page but I didn’t know if enough people can converse back and forth
